Didn't sleep for the whole night yesterday(28 June 2009) and spent 18 HOURS (11pm at night to the next day 5pm in the evening) editing my emcee video!

Quite a number of my event company and clients are asking for a show reel of my hosting service but I always have to refuse them in a polite way....

Anyway, finally I take out some time to really sit down and do it!

After a 3 hours "training" from my friend Nick, finally I kick start my journey in editing my first video. In fast this is also my first time editing a video, so there's alot of time spent on familiarizing the icons and function of each button.

Well things does go on that well as unfortunately some part of my visual of the videos are being stretched by iMovie(Mac Book) as the original file size of the videos taken by my camera is much smaller!

Well, hopefully you will like my video... enjoy.... :-)

有的时候，在外头奔波了一整天的我，回到自己的"家"，回到自己哪小小的被窝。。。。
躺着躺着，松松疲惫身子的当儿，我不仅会想。。。今天又过了一天，明天又会如何?

时间就好像一把火箭一样，火速的飞过。。。。
也把我的年龄不知不觉的增添"色彩"!

人说花样年华，我却说艳丽的花儿啊。。。它是限时美丽的啊!
就像我们人类一样，后浪推前浪，青出于蓝的情况日日可见。

但我们有否看到背后的辛酸情景?

在这现实的社会中，是否面对金融风暴也好、海啸也罢
商家总是在精打细算、因为贪婪，想从服务者中获取最廉价并最多项目的心态；
这一切在我们的工商界造成了很大的负面影响。。。

还记得当初刚出来社会打拼的时候，不惜削价赢的项目!
现在回头看，自己是否太傻?
现在逆性回应像一个框框一样回到来自己的身上!

每天在外头寻找"猎物"的我，不也是开始被一些新手"倒江湖"?
这又能怪谁呢?
有时候筹备了一整个月的企划案说撤消就撤消；
我又能做什么那?
难道我应该抱头就哭，还是选择忘记，从新再来?

人说如果累计了经验能够赢取更高的酬劳。。。。我想说这并不100%正确。。。。
我把头躲了躲进棉被。。。。明天我还得过同样的日子吗?
饶了我吧!

人生当中除了在商场上的明争暗斗，在社交圈子里也不都一样到处可见这逆性循环的现象?!?

有时候，人保持中立或许是见好事。你不认为吗?
话说得少，错得少。。。。。

晚了，累了，
还是不多说。。。
保持正面的心态。。。
明天会更好 :-)

Birthday Parties (DEC 2008)

Have several private birthday parties bookings for Dec 2008. As some of them are preety repetitous, so just posting some photos taken by my brother for memory :-)

The first event was for the under previledge old folks in Singapore. This event features OUCH! The Clown and Santa Claus.




The second collection of photos was for a children birthday party for the daughter of ambassador of United Arab Emirates(UAE). This event features Princess The Clown(myself), OUCH! The Clown(Roy) and Fantasy Magic Show(Mr.C).

My Face Painting Is Getting Popular....

Cake-cutting ceremony. I was trying to arrange the position of the kids and the Princess-Theme cake. Carrying the ambassador's daughter, my hands are shivering already :-S

Recall that day was a Saturday. After the UAE's party, Mr.C and I did another birthday party for a Hong Kong couple's daughter.

After my shows, I went down to Orchard Road and meet Roy and Ming who are performing the mime show in front of Takashimaya. It is a contract show from NOVEMBER to DECEMBER 2008. I will blog about this show later on. It is for SWEET CHRISTMAS AT ORCHARD - organized by Singapore Press Holdings.

Roman Statue For DAIKIN

Alan and I performed for Daikin's Dinner and Dance on November 28 (2008). The D&D was taken place in Shangri-la Hotel and I assume it should be a good one cause I am just involved with the pre-event/cocktail reception part only. Joining us are a 3 piece Jazz Band, they are really good.....

Balloon Sculpturing At Singapore Innovation Park(SIP)

Love Balloon Sculpturing as this is one of the activity where you can see the kid's staring at your hands creating miracles for them to bring home.....

Was sculpturing some balloons with my brother and Roy at Vivo City(DEC 2008).

Guess what, my brother who is a beginner and first time sculturing balloon actually made this for me!!!!! I guess some time down the road, he can be one of the top balloon sculptor in Singapore and Asia or maybe worldwide!!!!Ganbate bro Kevin!

Anyway some info about the Vivo City event. It is actually a on-going event every 1st and 3rd weekend of the month. Vivo City is collaborating with SIP(Sigapore Innovation Park). Their concept is pretty similar to Covent Garden in London -something like a art fiesta.

We did a few statue show there under invitation of Ms.Elim Chew(Founder of 77 Street). It is consider non-profit event as we are getting collection from the public and part of it goes to the SIP fund to help the improve the social situation in Singapore.

So guys if you happen to pop by Vivo City, do hop on to the top level and check out the SIP event.

Being An Emcee For SK2

SK2 is known as a 5star beauty product in Asia and the whole world. I am sure every girl who are stylish will be pretty crazy about SK2. Although I am not that trendy, but I am also a super-fan of SK2. I really love their "Miracle Water".

Hence, when my agent called me up to host for SK2, I was so excited and almost cry out of joy. The event was on Mid November 2008 in Takashimaya.

Anyway the main purpose of the road show is to promote SK2's Christmas Hamper and the Miracle Water - SK2's signature beauty product. They have a photoshoot for all clients who purchase their product. Looking at all Singaporean ladies(I assume most of them) wearing a Kinomo and transforming into Japanese Like for the photoshoot seems so fun. Looks so KAWAII (cute)!!!

Also at the same time, one thing not to miss for almost all road show will be the Q&A session where I gave out more than 5 vouchers and freebie in half an hours time!!!

Haha... Takashimaya is always flooded by shoppers, so it is not a surprise for this. Anyway overall it is a fun one :-)

Launch Of Isetan Man's Department

The event was a "high-end" one, and the guest are all invited and I really love the female host for that event.

Celebrity or Just Human Beings?

Well the entertainment circle is kinda small, sometimes people who are admiring and die to meet some big stars like Andy Lau, Feng Fei Fei(International wise) and Liu Ling Ling, Jack Neo or Mark Lee, Royston Tan etc(Local Wise)....

But for show ppl like me and my team, meetin "big stars" like them is not as hard as it see. Roy and I ever performed statue act for Eric Khoo(with one of his latest Film - The Magic featuring my another magician friend - Bosco)'s Japanese Bar-DIM SAKE BAR Launch at Goodwood Park Hotel sometime on 2007.

Also, we'd ever did a few shows engaged by Liu Ling Ling and we'd performed on the same event & same stage with WU ZHONG XIAN 吴忠宪 (Super Famous Taiwanese Talk Show Host-我猜我猜我猜猜猜) at the opening of Kranji Farm Park, Singapore. Tell you what, Wu Zhong Xian is really good with all his jokes... he really can make everyone laugh!!!@@#$#@@$@%@

Liu Ling Ling is consider my "agent" and she had engaged our - CYBER FREAK! show twice in her signature Getai and Chinese Variety Shows on November 2008.....

In case some readers who are from oversea, Royston is the director for "881" and "12 Lotus". Both of them are very worth watching films, probably you can purchase them online :-)

Anyway, what I feel deep in myself is, entertainers are still human. No matter if he/she is a normal life show artist or celebrity, they really still just live like a common person. Just that entertainers' life is always under the "spot-light" which makes people feel that their life are some "happening" but frankly, they are just like everyone of us :-)

Mascots and Face Painters At Singapore Zoo

Still recall Heart Neu Circus was hired by People's Association and the newly launched Mediacorp's Vasamtham Channel(somewhere Nov 2008) to perform for their Sigaporean Indian Community/Viewer's family day event. The event was taken place in Singapore Zoo, which is located not very far from my house. [actually should be around 20 minutes drive in precise :-)]

Roy(acting as Zebra) and Ming(acting as Penguin) were the mascots.

It is a full day event, the first half of the event was extremely hot and guess what at the second half of the event it started raining....

Poor Roy - Zebra and Ming - Penguin have to work while it was raining as they need to wait for the arrival of the Guest Of Honour- One of the MPs in Singapore. Poor thing :-(

After a long wait, finally the MP is here, smile :-)

Expressions International's Road Show

This is kinda funny situation, the agent/event organizer for Expressions International called me one week before the show and initially I thought it was for that's weekend, so I told him I am booked for both weekends.

Later on he called back and asked for another recommendation for my other female emcee that I managed, only then I found out that Expressions' gig is for the following week. And here you go, I became their emcee for the road show at The Heeren @ Orchard Road.

Not sure if you read one of my post while I was writing for my blog. It was actually written by me in the booth while it was raining during the Sunday evening and me and Expressions' crews were forced to "rest" due to the heavy downpour.

As the event was taken place in the early Christmas period, so some "warm up" for the festive season....

Human Statue Performance

I was hired by a restaurant to perform an hour of human statue gig for 2 weekends.

The first week I was in gold and the second week I was in silver. Both gig I was posing for their French beer and wine and attract attention for the diner in their restaurant - Brussel Sprouts which is located in Robertson Quay. They are very famous for their oyster... I would recommend all readers to try them out and you'll surely gonna love it :-)

Enicar's Conference & Dinner and Dance

I would say this is a very special show done by myself on 8th November 2008. In fact all the guest that will be participating are directly from China and Hong Kong.

In fact this is a company trip for Enicar - A Swiss Luxurious Watch. The brand was orginally from Switzerland but later on it was bought over by a businessman from Hong Kong. And the company trip that they are organizing to Singapore this time round is an incentive for all their distributor all over China. Meaning to say, Enicar is sponsoring the 3days 2 night trip to Singapore and I am invited to host for their conference and D&D.

During the selection of emcee, Enicar's mother company in Hong Kong actually called me and interview me. After confirmation, the organizer from Shanghai was dealing with me over the phone several time to excecute the work flow.... My telephone bill this month is gonna be XXXX :-S

In fact, I should thank god that I made the right move to further my studies for 4 years in Shanghai. If not I don't think I can have such high quality and perfect spoken mandarin that is suitable for their show.

Anyway, everything goes on well. During the actual event day, I specially bought a red dress for the show as the corporate color for Enicar is red.

I hear that thei brand is actually very famous in China and Hong Kong. They even got a Internatioanl celebrity actress - Ms. Xu to be their ambassador.

The conference was taken place from 2pm to 6pm. After 1 hour break, we started the D&D at 7pm as the Chinese guest normally takes dinner earlier compare with Singaporean and Malaysian.

After the D&D, the guest were so high that they wanted to continue drinking outside. Hence, I bough half the guest - around 80pax to Dasha's Beer Station.

Haha... Dasha should have made a lot of money from my guests from China. Anyway, readers I do have a place to recommend if you wish to chill out in a place which is out of town. Dasha's beer station is a good choice for you as you can enjoy the "Balanese style" coosy environment with some Czech beer. Dasha's place is also the first Czech microbrewery in Singapore.

Anyway after all the guest from China left, I was having a little chit chat and beer in Dasha's place with the organizer who is based in Shanghai. In fact he is from Hong Kong but working in Shanghai. He told me alot of stories and development of Shanghai. He also encourage me to return to Shanghai as there are much more opportunity for people who are effetively bilingual like me.

Sigh... should I go to Shanghai or stay back in Singapore? I'd started my business and career in Singapore. If I just leave like this, I will lost everything in Singapore and have to start all over again in Shanghai.

SOP Convention

Due to the good respond from the Essilor's Virtually Dust Free - Crizal A2's product launch. 3 of the participant for the Essilor event were the chair person and president of Singapore Opticianry Practitioners (SOP)'s Mr. Elson Kwan and Mr. Steve "talent hunted" me to be the Emcee for the fist SOP Convention in Singapore.

I am so honored as this is a first time for SOP to hold their convention and they are giving me a chance to the the host for their convention and exhibition!

It was a long day, the convention is a one full day convention & Exhibition from 8am to 6pm. I reach there around 6am to prepare for the show, sound check and dry run rehearsal with some of the main speakers...

After my morning gig, I was Mr. Elson invited me for the Gala Dinner at that night. As Roy and I both know the emcee for D&D - Justin Mission, so I called Roy to join me for the dinner as well.

The oganizer was so kind that they offerred me and Roy 1 whole table. Imagine a ball room table just for me and Roy!!!! We had so much food to eat....oh dear :-S

While I was mid-way enjoying my food, Justin was inviting some guest to take part in his game segment. What I can't expect is, he actually reserve the last lady(in total 4 guys and 4 girls) to be me. I was coveing my face with my scarft trying to hide myself, but that "stupid" Justin still insist to take me up on stage.

Oh my god! Finally I got a time to take a break after the long day hosting for the convention I still have to "entertain" the guest during the D&D.....

Halloween Party At The Tanglin Club

One of the Halloween Party I done this year was pretty interesting. Let's blog about the Tanglin Clubs gig.

As most of the time Halloween Party is mainly using the traditional witch costume, pumpkin etc... but this time round, the gig at Tanglin club is customized to a "Spiderwick Cronicles".

It is actually a children movie which it is as famous as Harry Porter in Europe and America. Frankly it seems that it is not a big hit in Asia and I haven't heard about this movie before until Tanglin Club offer me this gig. The movie was pretty exciting but personally I feel it is a bit too violent for kids, but if it is targeting only teenager, it is fine.

Anyway, on October 25 night, Roy and I went to the Tanglin Club pretty early to set up and decorate the area. Roy is acting as one of the character in the movie - Brownie. He is mingling around the area and giving out balloons.

Well for me I am the emcee for the night and I was playing some stage games with the kids :-) Love them... all of them are so cute.....

Hawaiian Dance For D&D (Oct 24)

I was engaged to perform for a Dinner and Dance. As the company is actually a foreign engineering firm, hence they wanted me to do some dance. Usually Hawaiian Dance is part of the game for my emcee gig. But since they wanted just a pure 30 minutes dance, well, I just re-work a dance segment specially for them.

The D&D was held in Tuas!!!! It is a "super rich man" club - Raffles Marina where every member there have to own a boat in order to join their club! That's really crazy.... how good if I can be as rich as them... haha...

Anyway, at that night, I spent more than 50 minutes just to travel from my house at A.M.K. to Tuas. When the cab pass Jurong East, it still take us another 25 minutes just to reach Raffles Marina..... OMG!!!!

Besides my Hawaiian Dance, we also have another sexy sweetie-Rachel who is doing an exotic dance. Guy really love it :-)

Travel Malaysia Exhibition (Oct 17-19)

Well, in fact now(23 November 2008- Sunday) I am doing a Road Show For Expressions at Orchard Road for the weekend but the heavy RAIN force me and my promoters to shop and take a break in the humble little canopy :-) Hence, I got to blog about my life as a performer here in Singapore.

Well, it is has been a month plus that I didn't up-date my blog. Readers, I am really sorry for that as year end is really a SUPER busy period for entertainer.

Anyway, back to last month, Heart Neu Circus collaborated with exhibition and convention organizer - CityNeon Holdings to host Travel Malaysia 2008 Exhibition at Singapore Expo on 17,18 and 19 of October 2008.

It was a relatively huge project for Heart Neu Circus as we are handling all the entertainment shows for the 3 days exhibition. From 100.3FM DJs, Be A Star Singing Competition, M5 Recording Company's artist, Stilt Walker, Human Statue, Magician, Balloon Clown, Emcee(myself) and guess what, the famous Moses Lim and Liu Ling Ling(actress for 12 Lotus and 881) were there too as they are the embassador for some of the travel companies!

It is a fruitful and yet tiring event. Imagine working from 10am to 11pm for 3 days non stop. Not easy yea, I was resting at home for more than 2 days to recover from tiredness. And guess what, I manage to shed off 2 KGs! I always lost appetite while working. Hopefully after today's Expressions Road Show I can shed off some extra "spare Tyre" on my body as well....Haha!!!

Product Launch For Essilor's Crizal A2 Lenses

Sorry for the late posting again, sometimes it is pretty tough to get a time to seat down like now and have a whole day off and blog about my life.

I was engaged by a event organizer early this month to launch Essilor's Ltd (A French Company) brand new product - Crizal A2 Lenses.

As it is a product launch so the client is very "gan zheng" about the how flow of the event. We met up several time and rehearse before the show. Until the event day itself, the manager is still asking if I know the sequence well. Haha.... although it is a lot of work behind the scene, but I like the way the manager is treating the event. This shows that they are particular and take everything seriously and want me to do a good show :-)

The event was held in Hort Park and this is my first time doing a show in a greenery garden and guess what a GLASS ROOM! I am so close to the nature, the breeze, the air and the water fall really drives me crazy. Imagine if I am not doing a show there, I will have just take a seat in one of the canopy and spend my entire day relaxing myself.....

Anyway back to the topic, the event is a breakfast cum launch ceremony. As it targeted to start sharp on 9.30am, the poor Wendy(me) was awake on 5am and leave house at 6am. The final dry run/rehearsal was kick start on 7.30am! After all those hard work rehearsing for the show for several days. The show turns out to be SUPER-GOOD!!!! The clients and agent are so happy about my work. I even got another a contact from SOP's president to host their convention next Wednesday(29 Oct 2008).

Oh my god! I am so happy about this..... my hard work is paid off as I always feel my Mandarin is much better than my English hosting. Finally after I did this pure-English emcee gig, I proved to myself that I am effectively bilingual!

After the show, when I was waiting for the agent to pick me up at the waiting area, guess who I saw?

UTT!!!!!! The MTV VJ. He was there for a photo-shoot and some filming. Oh My God! He is so handsome!!!!

Children's Day Celebration

My directors - Richel and Shi Nan offered me and some actors to do a children drama.

The storyline goes like this: There is a very naughty boy who dislike his parent because they always scold him. One day he dream that his parents will disappear and when he wake up from bed as usual, his parents are really gone! The boy is very sad and he decided to venture out of his house to the forest to look for his parents. He encounter a witch and monster who wants to eat and kill him. Finally an angel safe his life and brought his to his parents.

I was acting as the witch and I used some sparkles and fire during the show. Didn't manage to capture any picture while I was performing as I don't know anyone there who can help me to take photos.

Anyway I took some pictures during the pre-event and would like to share with you as this is one of the very few big scale children event in Singapore!

Emcee for Health Promotion Board

Emcee Samson called me for a show last Friday night(3 October 2008) and asked me to be his partner and emcee for Health Promotion Board on the next day.

It was so LAST MINUTE as there's a communication breakdown within the agent and the client. The client was requesting for a bilingual emcee and apparently Sam is bilingual but only speaks conversational Mandarin and the show required the emcee to speak perfect Mandarin and read out a lot of medical information in Mandarin which is almost impossible for Sam.

The problem with Singapore event organizer request for bilingual emcee but they didn't feed the emcee the exact requirement.

"THE SHOW MUST GO ON" I agree with Sam, although last Saturday I already have 2 shows, I just take on the gig and co-hosted with Sam.

After receiving the program around 11pm(night), I burn the mid night oil to work on the program list and script!

The next day I was there around 11am(the show start at 2pm) for rehearsal. After all the hard work..... finally we manage to put on a fantastic show although this is the first time I work with Sam..... we manage to build up the chemistry in a very short whiles time and my partner - Roy was really shock of it!

Apparently the client was very happy about the show as we manage to spice up the crowd and I even throw in FREE TRANSLATION during the Q&A session as the doctors speak limited Mandarin and most of the guest are CHANNEL 8(Mandarin Speakers).

I am pleased about my work :-)

Mime Show at Tiong Bahru Shopping Center

My Dad's 51st Birthday

Did up-date my blog for a while as I went back to Malaysia to celebrate my dad's birthday. Right after my trip, I was so busy with my shows.......

Emcee and Balloon Sculpturing For Mid Autumn Festival

I was engaged by an event company to emcee and perform a 1 hour Balloon Sculpturing Service for Mid Autumn Festival.

The event was held in Chinese Swimming Club and I was dressed in a Chang Er costume!

The guests(especially the kids) were so happy and love my character as a Chan

Next, it was the Tae Kwon Do Performance. They are so young and cute :-)

After that, I proceed to the story telling of the Chanr Er's Story. Some of the bigger kids seems to know the story very well! During the fun Q&A session, they won most of the prizes :-) Next, I taught the kids to sing "Yue Liang Yuan". A folk Mid Autmn Fest song composed by a Malaysian boy band. The kids are busy learning the song from the lyrist given :-)

Then we ended with a finale of prize giving for the best clay art and lantern walk around the swimming pool....

Right after the show, I rushed to Cote D'Azur Condo to overlook my performer over there. Luckly everything goes well....

After collecting the payment, I rushed to Rendevouz Hotel for a wedding function. I supplied Richel to be the emcee for the wedding. Roy manage to get there earlier after his shows at some community centres....

I did another round of balloon sculpturing for the kids there :-)

Finally everything is done..... Took some photo with the wedding couple, guests and Richel but unfortunately some of them are not clear....sigh!

Emcee For Pageant Night

Hosted for a NTU's Dinner & Dance cum Pageant Night at Holiday Inn last Saturday( 6 Sept 08).

Before that I went to Orchard Road for a discussion with Richel (my co-emcee). He was doing a road show for DKNY's perfume launch. Caught a video of a very interesting moment while Richel is conducting a game.

Later I went to Hilton Hotel to prepare for the show. I started solo for the introduction and the First Segment of the Pageant Night - Sports Wear

5 Male & 5 Female Contestants did a group catwalk at the end of the first segment.

Richel joined me right after the Beach Wear Segment then we proceed to the Second Segment - Dance. Cheoreographed by Sunny Low Dance Studio.

As this is almost consider my first pure English emcee gig, I feel I still have a lot of things to improve on. For those reader are not familiar with my background, I actually graduated from Shanghai. So, English is consider my second language.

Richel had pint point out aspects I should be aware of like pronunciation, vocal control, stage presence and etc....

Well, I am not satisfy with my current status, I will be working hard on improving all my weak point especially vocal control.... down the road I am sure I can produce a better show... GANBATE WENDY!

Balloon Sculpturing Rehearsal Which Brings Up A Topic.....

Alot of people think entertainer has a very good life as they just work for 1 hour and get paid at least a hundred and above and the rest of their time they are able to rest at home and do nothing. In fact, is that the real fact that entertainers just work when they are on stage?

The answer is NO! NO! and NO!

Besides all the shows on weekend and meetings & proposal on weekdays; we also spend our weekdays rehearsing our shows. In fact, we are working more than normal office hours!

I got a up-coming children shows on Mid Autumn Fest. Since it is for kids entertainment, besides being an emcee, I will also dress up as a clown and do an hour of balloon sculpturing during the pre-event segment.

Luckly I have Roy who is one of the very first Balloon Artist in Singapore as my partner. So, these few days during my spare time, I am busy "Twisting My Hands".....

After 30 minutes of beginner workshop, I ended up twisting more than 30 items.....

After 3 hours of non-stop balloon twisting, I have a bag full of balloons..... I am quite sure that there are at least 100 balloons consumed. And this situation will go on for a couple of days. All these balloons need to be thrown away.... well I know it is wasteful, but what to do....

FYI, each pencil balloon cost around S$ 0.15- S$ 0. 70, depends on what brand and quality we are talking about. So, you can imagine what's the time and cost spend behind every show. In fact I can even break even for this up-coming show after deducting all the balloon, costumes rental cost!

We as entertainers just show our smiling face and kept entertaining and bring SMILE to people. And sometimes it gets very fed up when people calling for show and keep asking for cheaper prices and compare professional full time artist and part time "money-aholic" who are doing this for fun!

I really hope people who engage entertainers can understand what is the meaning of PROFESSIONAL rather than comparing prices. It makes people very frustrated and demoralized when we are getting things like this. Entertainers really give their life and soul to their work. Recently cost of living is getting so high, entertainers main transportation - Taxi(need to carry alot of props with us) is also going sky high. We not only maintain at the same price and yet at the same time people are asking for lower price?!?

If one really wants to make so much money, why not eat maggie mee every day rather than eating out? And why not compare the price of this hawker call and restaurants in Clark Quay? It doesn't make sense right?

Do respect what us as a PROFESSIONAL ARTIST or else you won't be respected by the others. Just ask yourself one thing, you want a high quality show or making money out of entertainers?!?

French Mime for Bowne International

Was invited to perform for Bowne International (A MNC in the finance sector) on 22 August 2008. Their office is located at Maybank Tower.

The private event is held in line with the post-National Day Fire Work Celebration. The event was superb, guests are fun, delicious food, nice view of firework display, funny jokes all the way and warm treatment from the GM of the company..... GREAT MEMORY!

SHOW TIME!

It's 45 minutes before show time, after viewing the performing spot, my artists started putting on the costume and make-up at our changing room. While I was still at Asian Civilization Museum's Level 2 Ballroom preparing the platform for my artists!

Cham, by the time I got back to the changing room, I only left 15 minutes before the first slot of our performance. Rush Rush Rush!

My friend Janice came down as my stage manager to coordinate with the artists, guests and client. You know hoteliers(all the invited guest are management levels of 4&5 star hotels in Singapore) can be quite high-class and classy, better leave it for my friend to do it :-) Thank god.... luckly we manage to kick start the first set on time!

The First Set of 45 minutes performance is pure statue so it is quite a challenging act as all of us have to "endure" throughout and the muscle control plays a very important part in this set.

Our first set of performance ends when the emcee announced SHATEC's CEO - Dr. Steven on the stage for a speech.

Hurray finally it is break time! After the cake cutting ceremony, all the artist went back to our platform for the second set of 45 minutes performance.

This time round instead of statue only, we started transforming into mime which move in a very active manner. This is when the laughter starts! The guests and the client love this part of performance. We started to act like our character as chef, bartender etc. Unfortunately I don't have any photo to show case.

After the 2 sets of "enjoyment", finally our job is done.

The client is so kind to pass us some of the photos taken and printed instantly during the event :-)

Tonight is a stay up night again.... rushing to reply some e-mails.

This morning - few hours ago before 12 mid night me and Roy was spraying 6sets of costumes for our up-coming statue show engagement for SHATEC (It's a school for hospitality and tourism). They doing a re-branding exercise a.k.a. event this Wednesday and will be inviting all the hotels in Singapore and some foreign hoteliers to the launch.

After breakfast, we went to the park and started decorating the hut's table with a thick layer of commercial use plastic cover, we started the war of SPRAY!!!

As usual, we manage to attract some crowd looking at us. I guess, please are quite attracted to gold and silver color or else they think we are weird! haha.....

At some part of the SPRAYing process, especially drying the costume and walking up and down under the hot sun, I finally surrender! My hands are so tired that I have to take a break and go to the convenient stall to get some drinks.

Finally after 5 hours of hard work, Finally.........

After the work, our hands "kena" quite a lot of those Spray Paint. For your info, those spray paint are mainly for re-polish purpose. As it is, it's pretty harmfully for the human's body.

Sigh.... I think we should be considered risking our life and sacrificing for the arts.

When the costumes are 90% dry, we brought the costumes back to the house and dry them at home....

Today is already Tuesday, the show is tomorrow and we haven't get the shoes for us and another 4 performers and still need to spray them.....
Time, I need more time....

Emcee/hosting is something that I stop doing for a while and something that I desire to do it again.....

Finally I was given a chance to host, sing and dance for a Nurses Day on 4 August 2008 for Grace Lodge Home!

Before the show, I spent more than a week doing nothing but practicing my voice, dance, memorizing the lyricists, preparing the program list and games....I practice until I lose my voice!
Finally after finishing a few bottles of honey in that week, I manage to regain my "sweet" voice. (Just jocking......)

At the event day itself, I was so excited and nervous. At the beginning I said something wrongly like pronouncing the word wrongly and etc...... luckily, I manage to pull things through during my singing and dancing session. I manage to get a male guest and a female nurse to sing a simple yet meaningful songs- "You Are My Sunshine". I selected thing song because in fact the nurses are really our sunshine. Nowadays Singaporeans are so busy until some of them neglected their parents. If these nurses didn't offer their service in Singapore, I really don't know what will happen to our elderly parents.

Also, some friendly aunty volunteered to sing some Mandarin, Cantonese and Hokkien Songs with me.

The crowd is slightly different from other events as for functions like Nurses Day, there are alot of well chair bound old folks, Myanmar Nurses and limited guest of honor. So it is a bit tricky for the audience participation part. The peak of the show arises when I started a "treasure hunt" game. I manage to bring up the chef of Grace Lodge Home, another male and female guest with handkerchief and make them dance accordingly to the DJ's music. The crowd cheered!

After that, I follow with my Hawaiian Dance - "Hawaii Five O". I brought up 2 male guest, 1 female guest and 2 nurses. After dressing up all the grass dress and flower accessories. I demonstrated how to dance and post right infront of the audience(not dancing on the stage). The crowd was crazy about it, and the dancer are very "talented". The made the crowd cheered and the dance is full of laughter! Finally, when I get the guest to vote for the best dancer, the both guys won(obviously)!!! :-)

After the mime(Roy) and magic show, we proceed to the lucky draw session and with the special request from the floor, I ended the event by singing a famous Chinese Song "Lao Shu Ai Da Mi" with 4 other nurses on the stage. All guest sang along and we ended in a sweet and warm-hearted manner ;-)

P/S: Roy didn't manage to get a good video as he was performing in certain part of the event. So I will just post a photo taken after the show as a memory.

ObTECH's Convention (A NEC Company)

My company - Heart Neu Circus recently did a convention for ObTECH Global Pte Ltd (A NEC Company) on July 31, 2008. Since I started my life as a performer this is my first time performing in a convention.

Roy, Ming Xi(my new talent) and I several sets of mime and human statue performance from 8.30-4.30pm. At the mean time I also supplied a Stand up comedian- Richel. Also, we have models dressed in gold "CheongSam" for the event :-)

Normally everyone think convention and exhibition are pretty serious functions, but in fact nowadays, corporations are looking for alternative route like engaging special act artist to attract attention from the crowd and be more outstanding when they are placed with their competitors..... haha

In fact ObTECH even engaged Jamie Yeo(Star Sports Presenter cum Star Blogger for STOMP). As it is a important show for ObTECH, we specially customized the show and tailor made the costume for them. Thank god the tailor did us a very good job and favour to complete the job in 2 days time! Weeeehw.... but we pay more for the rush :-S

Well, guess it is worth as ObTECH is the first company that won the gold medal from SAP during the SAP Summit :-)

Richel's Stand Up Comedy Act
-The storyline is about a 12 year old boy(ObTECH is 12 years in Singapore), so Richel act as the over-grown 12 year old boy!
Richel is pretty chubby so he is perfect for this act(don't be angry yea Richel). Throughout Richel speaks about the history of ObTECH in a humorous way....
Quite a good act for corporate clients for alternative approach to inform the crowd about a company's history and achievement.......

The show was held in Meritus Mandarin, 5 star hotel and of course the organizer get us a 5 star hotel for logging too :-)

After the show, Roy, Vivian and I went side seeing at the KL city......didn't got to see much as it is almost mid night when we were out after washing up (Everytime after show have to straight away shower :-S ......

Did a statue show in Shangri-la Hotel last weekend.

The agent is client is super fussy with the statue work, they wanted a Roman theme and the agent's staff actually brought me to a tailor to custom made it. After that I even shop for the props, high heel shoe, hair deco and others at Textile building and along Jalan Sultan. Anyway, this shows how high regards the client and agent has towards my show and the pay is pretty worthed.... mmm...... ;-)

I once heard Shangri-la is one of the most high class hotel in Singapore. True enough the 5/6 star hotel is so posh and the ballroom is super huge and gigantic!

Singtel's Road Show

Just did Singtel's road show for 2 continuous Sunday's. It is a pretty unsual event, normally road shows are targeted to all audience, but this time round, the road show is aiming for the Bangladeshi, Sri Lanka and Indian crowd as it is held in Serangoon Plaza, nest to Mustafar.

Singtel's booth was situated in several locations as it is besides me and Roy, I supplied another 2 statues for them. I think our show is pretty new and strange to the foreign worker as they didn't got to see something like this in their own country. The respond was fantastic!

We've to dress in Red and wearing Singtel's T-Shirt as their corporate color is red, and Heart Neu Circus' corporate color is also red :-)

Some of the audience gave me water and food during the show. I joke with them with funny faces and expression (I can't talk, just can mime le.....:S ), staying stationary with Singtel's sign board and dance to the audience.....)

Anyway I am glad that I did this show as it is really a good experience to perform for foreign worker. Imagine we are always complaint we have to work OT and 5 days a week, but ppl like them as a foreign worker, they have to share room with so many of their fellow friends, work 6 days or even 7days a week, low pay and low work condition.....and they didn't complain a thing and contribute alot to the nation...... I feel honored to entertain them ;-)

Hi Friends,

My apologies for not up-dating the blog for a while as I was super bc for the past month. After the TV interview, calls and shows engagements have been coming regularly. Good sign isn't it? Just hope that it will be constant.

Anyway, time really flies....it has been 1 month I quit my job and left Hardware Zone (A subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings).

After last weekend's road shows, this morning(Monday) I was chating with one of my friend who has just shifted their company to Fusionopolis. Fusionopolis is just walking distance from my ex-company. Suddenly feel like kinda miss my colleagues and time I'd used to spend in my ex-company.

Can still recall, during my last day in Hardware Zone, my team organized a small little farewell party for me - Pizza Lunchie (my favourite food)

I always heard people talking about Bali. Like it is heaven on earth, fantastic destination for holiday and etc. I didn't know how true it was until I was there........

Left Jakarta around 4pm in the afternoon. When I reach Bali it is around 6something in the evening. (Note that the time difference between Jakarta and Singapore is 1 hour.) Astani's sister came to pick us up at the airport. After dropping our bags in the hotel, her driver sent us to a restaurant for dinner and right after that, we went clubbing.... hurray Friday night!

Near the clubbing spot, there's a memoriam for the bloody October 2002 where terrorist bomb a famous club in Bali. As you can see there are so many victims and until now, people are still coming here to pray for the scarified souls.....

On the Second day, Roy and I went sightseeing ourself as our friends are busy with work. For your information, Balinese work 7 days a week and they feel like holidaying while working as the lifestyle over there is super relaxing. Look at the fantastic sea view where we had our lunch.

That evening, Roy and I hired a taxi to bring us to Ulu Watu to watch sunset and Kecak Dance.
What a waste that on the way, traffic was pretty bad and by the time we reach there, the sun has gone to his "dreamland".... sigh!

After Kecak Dance, the driver drove us to a seafood restaurant which is famous for beach dining.

I am not sure why all the waiter and event the band thought Roy and I are on a honey moon trip. The lead singer even ask Roy to propose to me....haha.... no choice lo... have to act like a couple for their sake......

After the dinner I was so full went strolling on the sea side, hoping that it will be me in digestion.

After dinner, the driver drop us at a night spot area - Double O. We both ended clubbing for the whole night long and when we are too exhausted to move anymore, we lie down on the beach and wait for sunrise.....

In the morning, our tour guide came over to pick us up at the sea side and off we go for a one day trip in Bali Island. The first destination is to watch Barong Dance Performance. The usher gave me a flower. Cute.....Check out the Barong Dance Video below:

Had lunch in a pretty special place - Paddy Field! To alot of people Paddy field is special, but for a Malaysian like me, I grew up in this environment. And the so call Crispy Duck is so expensive and I personally feel the quality of the food is really so so only. The lunch set cost around SGD$25 dollars! Mad!

Stone Toilet? I am sure this is rare right? Anyway I'd really enjoy my holiday in Bali. Bali is absolutely heaven on earth. Hopefully I can travel to Bali again..... tomorrow? Haha.......

Indonesia Trip (9-16 April 2008)

Didn't blog for a while as I was out of town for a week. Paid a visit to my friend in Jakarta. I was pretty shock when I reach the international airport as it is pretty run down. But when I set out of the airport, Jakarta is like a heaven to me. The environment is so similar to Malaysia and the Malay language makes me feel like I am back home.....The first day was basically burn, but I manage to get a nice 1 hour Javanese massage which cost me S$10 only! haha!

On the second day, my friend drive me and Roy with his mother to Taman Mini. A cultural center which combine all Indonesian arts and cultural in the garden. Firstly, we went to the IMAX Theater to see the movie about dinosaur. The movie actually makes people question about life and how long human can live for the amount of pollution in this current era. Also, is dinosaur the ancestor of the birds now? Are human the evolution of monkey or we are just human from the beginning?
After IMAX, we went sightseeing at Taman Mini.

After touring around Taman Mini. We went to Pondok Indah(the latest build shopping mall in Jakarta) to have lunch. We had Nasi Ayam Penyet, it is pretty delicious......

While driving back home, Astani actually suggested that Roy and I should go to Bali instead of staying in Jakarta for the whole week as Jakarta is basically a city and has limited attraction for us. We manage to get the airticket from the local travel agent and tomorrow we are going off to Bali! Look at the way Astani laugh as though he is the one who is going....haha

Show at Cafe Del Mar

st Saturday(5th April 2008) I was engaged by Fly Entertainment to do an event in Cafe Del Mar, Sentosa. Met Irene Ang(she's the wife of Phua Chu Kang, if case you don't know who she is). Kinda friendly person I would say although she is a celebrity.

I was the stilt walker and human statue and did talent management for another "statue" as they require 2 of us. It is a all girl party, so Roy is not "qualified" for this assignment unless he is willing to be a "bapok"...haha!

Roy and I went there in the afternoon to experience the actual location as stilt walking on the sand could be quite risky.

Anyway, I tipu abit for the stilt walking due to some injury on my legs previously. I am afraid I couldn't stand and walk on the stilts for 1 hour, so Roy hand made a human- butterfly stick for me in case of emergency I won't fall off from that height!

When I was waiting for my show slot, I met my friends- Kita, Josephine and her bf in the artist resting lounge. In fact Roy and I met them last week in the Flowtoys Trunk Jamming Session.

Japanese food has always been one of my favorite food. I was very into the Japanese cultural as my god brother and quite a number of my uni-friends and course mates are Japanese. I love Sashimi, Sushi, Salmon Bento, Teriyaki Chicken and Unagi of course! My mouth starts to water already......... :-S
I can still recall I was so mad about all the local cuisine when I was in Japan February 2008. The result for it, I gained 5KG in 2 weeks time! Ooops.... forget to blog about my trip..... :-)

The Balloon Cocoons

One month ago, one of my agent arranged an event for us on 31 March 2008. As the location - Carlton Hotel Empress Ballroom's stage is pretty small and the ceiling is low. The client wanted us to propose another show instead of our usual stage performance- "Cyber Freak!"

Previously Roy and I already have an idea of creating a show with elements of art. It is very challenging to expose the arts to Dinner and Dance as most of the guest are more interested on the food and "yum seng". The quality of the performance have to be very strong to attract the audience and out beat the FOOD!

Based on the original concept of our previous musical drama show - THE REBORN HUMAN. We add in some other customized ideas that Roy and I had compiled, we finally created the show which focus on as follow: -
At the beginning, 2 "springy" objects will 'roll" onto the stage. Later on, the performers will blow up a balloon in the top part of each "springy" (which look like a light bulb). After that, the 2 performers will crawl into their own balloon and let the balloon cramped onto their body (which look like a cocoon). Later on, a cocoon will break out from the balloon and helps the dancing female cocoon to transform into a butterfly.

At that day itself (this Monday) I was so nervous despite all the rehearsals. Probably it is the first day I am doing this show. My other performer friends - Edmund and Alan came to video the show and give some "comments" on our performance. Thank god that the show goes on well, and the crowd are satisfy with the performance:-)

Alan only managed to take 6 photos as my camera's memory is full. I was so focus on rehearsal until I forget to delete them. Luckly Alan's video down the show with his camera. Will edit it then post it on my blog/website. So folks, stay tune yea..... ;-)

Wendy as Talent Manager?

My client requested a mime, unicyclist and other talents for mingling during Volkswagen's 1st year anniversary celebration which is taken place in their showroom on 29 and 30 March 2008.

To ensure a flow in the performer's schedule, I have to be the talent manager for the performers . The events goes smoothly and it is pretty exciting. How good if I can perform as well :-S

Busking on Good Friday

Had a great experience while busking in Tampanies during Good Friday. Roy and I were dressed like an angel representing followers from heaven/god (maybe....:-)) While busking, our musician amigos from Peru came and busk with us.

Ended up, I became a dancer for them and selling CDs while those amigos play their wonderful South American Music.....

Guess what, before the show ends, their CDs are all sold out! Thanks to me yea.....haha

Roy had an engagement for human statue on 20 March 2008 in Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. I was late for the event and when I reach there guess what I saw......

I am so surprise that the company have such a huge budget for their annual dinner and dance as the performer/ costume mingles are getting more and more..... Later on when I found the performers are talking to each other as thought they know each other so well only I notice it is a costume party! Silly me

A lot of the clients say I am very sexy, but I feel I am too fat lah.....my god, how can I gain so much weight!!!

This outfit is Roy and my busking work Saturday and yesterday. Since it is the year of rat, so we dress ourself as a rat, and I am wearing the "Cheong Sam", friends from Ipoh, can u still recall this cloth? I wore it in Kalai before.

Roy and I went to a Greek Statue Masterpiece Exhibition in Singapore National Museum. The exhibition was fantastic but just that the tickets are pretty costly....

There is a place where public can put on the traditional Greek costume so I took one of them and taking pictures.....

Kota Tinggi Rainforest Resort (2 to 4 Nov 2007)

Pre-Trip

Dear guess what, todayI am not going into my office. I am now in the Mc Donalds near my housepreparing a proposal for my client.

Later on around 2pm I will be goingover to Johore and get the night bus ticket back to Ipoh on Nov 23.Then Roy and I will hang out around City Square and wait for the Coachto Kota Rainforest Resort around 8pm.
This outing(Summer School) isactually host by the Bahai Community in Malaysia and they invite theSingapore counterpart to take part in this. So, I just hope things willbe doing well for this Summer School.

Shall post of information and photos when I am back.

Post-Trip
Finally I am back in Singapore around 8pm. Went dinner with Roy at the coffee shop below our flat and went home to unpack my stuff and luandry. After everything is done, watched "American Got Talent" shows and go to bed around 1am. Was so tired this morning and really feel like staying back home but have no choice and went to work due to job obligations. Monday Bluezzzz~~~~

As I'd promised, I here post some pictures of my trip in Kota Tinggi. To be frank, the Bahai Summer School is pretty boring. I was expecting a holiday but ended up we have to go through an intensive bahai workshop. There are Bahai from all over the world attending this session: Sg, Msia, Vietnam, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Australia and Iran. My room mate is from Vietnam and Iran. This is the first time I get to know so much of Iran and Middle East culture as I was pretty close with the Iranian! I really want to visit the beautiful country one day!

The first day, I went for the workshop in the morning, then afternoon I really couldn't take it anymore. Roy and I sneak out and went to the water fall. We rent 2 bikes from the resort and cycled there. The water fall was awesome and itz packed with tourist...mainly from Sg and foreigners. I really had a good time there playing with the water and enjoying the freezy and cooling water cum freeze....syok Anyway, I hurt my feet and was fleeding as the stone that I walked in the water was too slippery.

Roy and I spent 3 hours there and we almost forget that we have performance that night. When we r back in the resort, we quickly wash up, take dinner then went to the functional room for rehearsal. Then on 8pm the meetings starts with a talk from a lady from Switzerland. Then the talent show starts. Our performance was the last one. When the emcee announced that it's our show, we started with 1 solo mime piece from Roy and the second contemporary dance duet piece. As this is the first time me and Roy conduct a dance presentation, the chemistery is still moderate and I off balance a few time while doing some ballet postures. Anyway the audience are basically laid people and they don't really trace out the faulty part.

After the show, Roy and I get a huge applause from the audience and most of them approach us and state that it was a good show. We also feel that the combination of our work is fantastic and awesome and Roy and I plan to do something similar for our commercial and theater work down the road..... Anyway, I didn't have a chance to ask ppl to take photo or video of our performance, so I can only share it with u by words.

On the second day, I became pretty "obedient" and attended all the workshop and prayers till the farewell session. I was very touched with the Bahai prayer, the songs and words are so charming! Also I am very touched with the quote of Bahaula "Unity of All Man Kind". Feel like pioneering, teaching and sharing the story with other ppl. Anyway I'd manage to take some photos on the way to the bus before I leave the resort......

Hair-Do

My friend cum client Attica, a club located at Clark Quay requested me for hair-do service. Unfortunately I have to attend a dance show as it was the Singapore Da:ns Festival. I just went over to help her up for a while after the dance performance. As it is, I passed the assignment to my hair-stylist friend- Gemma Rosey.

She is a pretty experienced make-up artist and has been working for several female magazine in a regular basis.
So cham, dunno when I'll have another assignment like this.....waiting.
Anyway the budget is only S$150 for 3 hour services. So little....In create industry, people really undercut everyone!!!

Busking & Singapore Da:ns Festival

Lately been really busy..... On Saturday morning I was still busy working on my client's Yahoo Advertising proposal.Also, Saturday and Sunday has not been productive.

On Saturday, me and Roy went to our spot and set up on 12noon, then wait till 5pm as it was raining heavily. When the time you called, we were waiting in Mc Donalds for the rain to stop. Finally we only manage to busk for 10 minutes then the rain comes then we have to pack up and leave on 6something.

Yesterday, it was raining heavily too, and we manage to work in total 2 hours plus. Consider better than Saturday. Anyway, yesterday was a quite special day as while we were waiting in Mc Donalds for the rain to stop, we met a couple from Switzerland who cycled (in their 2 in 1 huge bicycle)from their country to China, Indo China, Msia till S'pore. Amazing right?!? She gave me her name card and some contact of a website where backpackers can travel around the world and stay at local people's place who are members of the website. Like this time, they are going to settle down in one of their Singaporean girl who previously stayed in their place during her visit in Switzerland!

Oct 11 - Latin Fever
I went for a Salsa and Alfa Cuban Rumba workshop hold by a local dance group and it was fantastic!
Been a long time I didn't dance salsa, I can still recall when I was in Shanghai I used to go for salsa party almost every week as I have a huge gang of Spanish and South American friends. Feel like those times are coming back to me....but my friends are not around me anymore....
Anyway, the chef dancer is gorgeous! She was so sexy and pretty and she is amazing with her salsa steps...

Oct 12 - Swing Along
Swing dance workshop. To be frank, I don't really like it as I feel the steps are abit weird.
This dance piece is even older than Jazz which is around the past century la.....

Oct 13 - Arabian Night
I miss the previous 2 and only manage to go for the last dance session. As it was Roy's nephew's birthday, so I have to go over for the party.
Anyway, I was so shock when I reach Esplanade (The Art Center). There are alot of Branglas as it is the Hari Raya Holiday for them. And all of them were sitting so near to the stage and look at all those pretty belly dancer doing the dance piece!
I was left behind as they almost occupied the whole space.
I really love Arabian dance and belly dancing. It is very sensual and sexy and I feel like taking the dance course hold by some local dance school. Honey, should I go for it? But I have a big stomach and belly, it will affect the dance le

Oct 14 - Hip Hop Jam
As me and Roy were talking with those Switzerland Backpackers so we busk till pretty late. Roy join me for the Hip Hop, we only manage to go for the last session. Guess what, both of us sweat like water!
Those poly students are so energetic! I have to admit I am old already!
Anyway, the hip hop dance really make my body warm up and more flexible as their steps and beats are really fast and accurate.

Besides for all these workshops, next week Roy and I are going for 3 dance pieces which is Flamenco dance by COMPANIA MARIA PAGES from Spain (Oct 17), Contemporary dance by BATSHEVA DANCE COMPANY from Israel (Oct 20) and Cultural Dance by ISTANBUL HISTORICAL MUSIC AND MOVEMENT ASSEMBLES from Turkey.

All the ticket costs S$42 each! Damn Expensive! Have to work harder le........
